Volunteering abroad in Spain is the best opportunity to live a different culture in a unique way while you develop your social skills, you gain work experience, and you improve your Spanish proficiency. You can choose from a wide range of volunteer placements with host organizations and institutions in social, health care, and environmental fields.
Volunteering in Spain will increase your social awareness, you will gain self-confidence, and you will build a sense of independence while, in turn, you help others. During your volunteer abroad program in Spain, you will receive permanent support and guidance from our local staff that will help you achieve the best of your program.

It is not mandatory that you take a Spanish course to participate in our volunteer abroad projects, but to make the most of your stay in Spain, it is important that you can communicate with the people you will be interacting with. We will organize a phone interview with you to be able to give you feedback and let you know if you have the Spanish level required by our host organizations. The minimum Spanish level will also depend on the characteristics of the volunteer placement you wish to get.
On your first Monday in Barcelona, COINED Spain will welcome you with an orientation talk. You will also receive a welcome folder containing useful information about Spain and Barcelona. Our staff will also clarify all doubts, concerns, and questions you may have upon arrival about your volunteer abroad program.
On this first meeting the Volunteer Abroad Program Coordinator will inform you of your role and the tasks you will be completing in the host organization, as well as the date of your first meeting with your host organization's tutors, to which you will go with your COINED Spain tutor.
