Health Care Internship Package
In Barcelona, Spain, COINED offers you the possibility of doing a non-paid internship in different health related organizations. You will have the opportunity to intern in direct contact with patients and you will work with Spanish health professionals. 
Purpose
This health care internship package was designed to provide health science or psychology students with hands on experience in their field of study. Interns will gain international work experience through direct contact with patients and will be able to choose internships on two or three* different health care organizations.
Internships Placement Options
- Neuromuscular Diseases Internship: The ONG works with patients, relatives and professionals to support and guide those affected by a neuromuscular disease. The organization coordinates self-help and support groups, and provides physiotherapy services at home.
- Parkinson Internship: The organization’s main aim is to facilitate the communication amongst Parkinson’s patients, optimize their integration and minimize their isolation, offer the necessary services to reduce effects of the illness, and improve the quality of life for the patients and their families. They also provide medical, psychological or legal assistance related to the illness (for this internship option you need an advanced level of Spanish and a minimum commitment of 12 weeks).
- Children’s Cancer Internship: This organization’s main aim is to improve the quality of life for children affected by cancer and also provide support to the patients’ families. They look for solutions to the different disorders caused by and associated to childhood cancer. The organization focuses its activities in two main areas: psychological assistance for the child and family to improve emotional well-being, and social work to improve the availability of economic resources for the child and their family.
- Drug addiction/Alcoholism Internship: This non-profit organization’s main goal is to improve the general quality of life and to promote the social integration of the disadvantaged sector. Their main focus is working with drug addicts and alcoholics.
Commitment
The intern will be scheduled to work 15/25 hours per week for a minimum of 8 weeks and a maximum of 16 weeks. Interns who commit to more than 12 weeks will be able to choose three placements.
